Introduction
The
initial purpose for which this website has been created is
to establish a clearinghouse for information that the many
individuals and institutions throughout the world
interested in Hannah Arendt’s work—in Hannah
Arendt’s thinking—wish to share.
The website will function as a forum, a virtual public
space, enabling people all over the world to meet and
communicate.
This website is a preliminary version of what will
eventually be a much more extensive site, with educational
materials, a timeline, photographs, literature guides,
information about publications, and so forth. The fuller
website will be oriented toward showing Hannah
Arendt’s relevance for our contemporary world
–and in this it will be following the thematic
orientation of all the conferences listed on this site. If
you would like to be notified of the launch date for the
full hannaharendt.org site, please send your email address
to info@hannaharendt .org.
This website is sponsored by a group chaired by Jerome
Kohn, director of the New York based Hannah Arendt
Organization, which is a not-for-profit organization
operating in cooperation with the Hannah Arendt Archive at
The New School for Social Research, the Hannah Arendt
Center at Carl von Ossietzky University in Germany, the
Hannah Arendt Library at Bard College, the Hannah Arendt
Literary Trust, the Hannah Arendt Newsletter, and all other
centers, circles, and societies dedicated to preserving the
legacy of the great twentieth century political
thinker.
